Australian Appaloosa Youth Association (AAYA)

The AAA Ltd is a family orientated Association where we try to provide programs for all the family.

If your aged between 3 and 18 years of age, ride an Appaloosa and want to meet other Appaloosa riders and lovers just like you then the Appaloosa Youth Association is the place for you!

There are Appaloosa Youth all over Australia who regularly compete at Pony Club, Agricultural shows, sporting events, Regional Club shows, State Championships and the Appaloosa National Championships. Appaloosa youth come from all walks of life with the common bond of the love of the Appaloosa.

At State and National shows the Youth regularly organise fun group activities, social events and fund raisers. The AAA encourages friendship, sportsmanship and above all, fun for our Youth. We are proud of the outstanding achievements of many of our Youth that compete in open company. Many Youth compete in non-traditional areas of the equestrian world, showing great pride in their horses.

There are awards for the High Point Youth of Australia each year, taken from the different age divisions. High Point awards are also given out to youth from each state for each age divisions. These points are accumulated over the show season.

Throughout your time as a youth your points continue to accumulate and you will receive awards such as the Register of Achievement, Medallions, and Versatility Awards through to AAA Ltd Youth Award of Excellence.

Through new programs the AAA Ltd is looking to help support Appaloosa youth who compete in non-traditional events such as pony club you must be an Appaloosas youth who rides a registered Appaloosa.

There is support for youth events such as clinics and camps.

The Youth Association met at every National show holding there AGM and elects a committee and state delegates. The youth are very actively involved with the Association and regularly host many fun events at State and National shows.

Join our AAYA Programs

Youth Participation Program

This program recognises that AAYA members compete with their registered Appaloosas all year round in any/ all equine disciplines.

Whether you compete at pony club, camp drafts, shows, team penning, play polo or attend a trail riding day, you can be rewarded for your participation by simply filling out the required form after every outing, have it signed by an Official Organiser on the day and forward it to the Australian Appaloosa Association Office.

The program runs from August 1st – 31st July each year.

The winner in each age group will be awarded an embroidered horse rug.

Youth Recognition & Awards

Each year the AAA & AAYA recognise the achievements of its members with a variety of recognitions and awards.

Riding your Appaloosa at any recognised show earns points yearly and over your time showing in youth competition.

These points go towards:

Achievement awards, Medallions, Versatility awards and the Excellence Award.

Our Youth are also recognised with the presentation of the yearly AAA Ltd Hi Point and State Awards.

Youth Clinic Starter Kit

The AAA Ltd and the AAYA are offering the opportunity for Youth members, conducting Clinics, to apply for the Youth Clinic Starter Kit.

This Starter Kit is available for 2 clinics only, run between 1st August and 31st July each year, by AAA Ltd Youth Members.

The successfully chosen Youth will receive of $250.00 towards running their clinic. The clinic can be for all styles of riding and all breeds.

There are only 2 Starter Kits on offer each year, so apply early so don’t you miss out.

Youth Pony Club Achievement Awards

Earn great awards riding your Appaloosa in your favourite Pony Club events. If you are a member of the AAYA and ride a registered Appaloosa at Pony Club this is for you.

While competing at your Pony Club days in dressage, mounted games, sporting, jumping, graded days, pony club rider classes you are earning points towards to following awards; Achievement awards, Medallions, Versatility Awards and the Youth Awards of Excellence.

There is no reason not to be part of this program, earn awards while doing what you love with your Appaloosa.
