THUMBELINA

AAA  A1 | Leopard Mare

Born in 1966, this sweet yet load leopard mare was imported from the US in 1969 by Noel and Helen Cook of Running N Ranch Nathalia NSW.

Thumbelina was part of a large import of Appaloosas by the Cook’s at this time and is certainly “THE” foundation mare of the AAA being the 1st Mare registered with the Australian Appaloosa Association!

There is not a lot of information about this mare and photos are hard to locate – Image taken from a  Nevada Ranch add in 1969.

Thumbelina was first bred in the USAto Money Creek Rockledge and in 1969 she foal another AAA foundation great, colt NEVADA DEVIL DANCER who was also imported by Running N Ranch and went to be one of our associations first Hi Point Performance Appaloosa at the 1st National show!

In 1973, She was shown at the 1st Appaloosa National Show in the aged mare class coming away with a 2nd.

Later that year she was sold at a Running N auction for $7000 to G Hasthorpe.

From here, much of her history is unknown. Regardless,  being the 1st Appaloosa mare in our association is one feat the AAA truly honor.
